Khajjiar is a beautiful hill station located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It has been called the “Mini Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh” because of its beautiful landscape and close resemblance to the Swiss countryside. It is situated at an altitude of about 2100 meters above sea level. Khajjiar is situated between the Dhauladhar mountain ranges of the Himalayas.
It is surrounded by mountains and dense pine trees on all sides. There is a huge meadow here and a beautiful natural lake situated in the middle of it. Every year thousands of tourists come to visit here. If you are a nature lover then you must visit here.
Location and Best Time to visit Khajjiar

Khajjiar is located in 24km from Chamba and 24km from Dalhousie on Chamba – Dalhousie Road, Himachal Pradesh, India. 176314.
Best Time to visit –
The best time to visit Khajjiar is from March to June, which is the summer season in this region. During this time, the weather is generally clear with blue sky. You can also visit Khajjiar after monsoon and before winter i.e. in October to December.
The monsoon season, which starts in July and lasts till September, is not a good time to visit as the weather can be unpredictable with heavy rainfall and strong winds. The winter season, from December last to February, is also not suitable for visiting here as the weather can be very cold and windy.
Temples in Khajjiar
Although Khajjiar is known for its natural beauty, but there are also some temples which you must visit –
1. Jagdamba Mata Temple – This temple is dedicated to Mata Jagdamba. Any tourist who comes to visit Khajjiar definitely goes here too. There is a very beautiful 81 feet high statue of Lord Shiva here.
2. Khajji Nag Temple – Khajji Nag Temple is a famous temple of Khajjiar. This place is named after him. Worship and Bhandara are held here from time to time.
Khajjiar Jagran Mela
As we have seen that there are some temples here and the people here believe in worship. For this reason, a grand fair is organized here in the faith of Khajji Nag. It is known as Khajjiar Jagra. This fair comes in May-June. On this day the whole of Khajjiar is filled with people. Himachali Dham is also arranged here for food.
This is the only fair of the whole year which is held in Khajjiar. You can see the scene of the fair in the photo given right side. If you are also planning to visit Khajjiar, then coming during this fair can also be very entertaining for you. Many types of dishes are made in the fair which you can enjoy.
Tourist Activities to do in Khajjiar
Apart from natural beauty and fairs, Khajjiar is also famous for adventure activities. This is such a tourist place where you get a chance to do almost all kinds of adventure activities like –
1. Paragliding – This place is very famous for paragliding there are not only one but 3 to 4 different places for paragliding. Also you get a chance to go paragliding for a cheap price.
2. Trekking – As you know that Khajjiar is a mountainous place, due to which there are many such places where you can do trekking. There are many treks here for trekking.
3. Camping – If you are interesting in camping, then you also get chance to do camping here. Here you can do camping on the peaks and enjoy bonfires under the open sky.
4. Horse Riding – Horse riding is a very exciting feeling in itself. To get this experience, horse riding facility is also available here. You can do horse riding all around the grounds of Khajjiar.
Other Activities: Apart from the above mentioned activities, here you can do many other activities like – you can get photograph with wearing the Gaddi dress, you can get photograph with cute rabbits, you can watch fishes from the shore of the lake.
